The app-icon depth trick that survives every corner radius

Workflow

Four moves

1. Step 01

   Keep one glyph

   App icons read as silhouettes. One letter or one mark, nothing compound.

2. Step 02

   Moderate the depth

   Depth 2–3: deep enough to feel physical at 1024px, shallow enough to stay legible at 32px.

3. Step 03

   Pad for the mask

   Frame the mark with ~20% margin — corner masks eat edges.

4. Step 04

   Export the sizes

   Render once at max resolution and downscale; lighting stays consistent across sizes.
